The history of the Spanish company Rieju began in 1934. Then Luis Rieroa and Chaim Juanola signed an agreement on the establishment of a factory for the production of components for motorcycles. The name of the company is made up of the first letters of the founders.
Everything was ready to begin construction of the factory, land for building was acquired, but the republican government nationalized the property and only after the civil war, in 1940, Rieju was able to start the production of motor components. In 1947, the production of motorcycles themselves was also started. In 1964, an agreement was signed between the Spanish motorcycle company Rieju and the Italian company Minarelli on the licensed production of engines for motorcycles by the Spaniards. Minarelli and Rieju are partners to this day.
In the modern model range of Rieju, there are both road and off-road motorcycles with 50 cc engines, as well as scooters, produced in conjunction with the Italian company Malaguti.
