The history of KYMCO began in 1963, with the creation of the Japanese Honda assembly plant in Taiwan.

Over the past 40 years, the company has turned into one of the largest manufacturers and entered the top ten most powerful manufacturers in the world. Today, the product range includes a wide range of motor vehicles of its own design and production: scooters and maxiscooters with engine volumes from 50 to 700 cm3, light motorcycles with engine volumes from 125 to 250 cm3, as well as a wide range of utility and sports ATVs with engine volumes from 50 to 500 cm3.

The most interesting technical innovations of the company in recent years are: installation of an electronic fuel injection system on the Venox 250 Cruiser model, production of an Xciting 500 scooter with an engine of 500 cm3, installation on large-scale models of ABS scooters and fully adjustable rear shock absorbers, electrically adjustable mirrors, liquid crystal dashboards.

The company also actively cooperates with other well-known companies, supplies its OEM products for some models of the Italian Malaguti company, develops scooters for the Korean company Daelim, and builds its MXU 250 and MXU 400 4x4 ATVs under the Arctic Cat brand.

The KYMCO brand, registered in 1994, is an abbreviation for the full name of the company “Kwang Yang Motor Co.” Currently, the company's plants and research and development centers are located in 6 countries of the world. The total productivity of the company is more than 6,000,000 units per year. KYMCO products are successfully sold in more than 80 countries: in Western and Eastern Europe, the USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, many countries in Asia and Africa. Significant successes of the company brought sales in Europe, reaching 1,000 units per month in France, and securing first places in three different segments of the ATV market in Spain.
