Polaris Industries is an American engineering company manufacturing motorcycles, snowmobiles, ATVs and electric cars, headquartered in Midine, Minnesota.

The history of Polaris can be traced from its founding to its founders - Edgar Hettin, his younger brother Allan and his close friend David Johnson. The fruitful trio launched Polaris' predecessor - Hetteen Hoist & Derrick - in 1945 in the small town of Roseau, Minnesota. Given the shortage of metal during World War II, their farm machinery repair skills quickly earned the respect of regular customers. But they deserve a place in history, working on ways to quickly get to forest hunting lodges in deep snow. These developments led to the creation of the first prototype of a snowmobile in 1955. To prove that the new type of transport is not just a toy, Edgar and three friends took a journey of 2000 km through the wild places of Alaska, demonstrating the reliability of the device. The device, loaded with more than four hundred kilograms of provisions, withstood a temperature of −40 degrees Celsius and successfully completed the journey in 12 days.

• 1956 The first snowmobile was built. The devices became so popular that Polaris began to produce exclusively snowmobiles, and this lasted for many years until the company expanded its product line that required new skills in the development, production, distribution, marketing, new power units and technologies.
• 1968 Textron Inc acquires Polaris. Production continues in Roseau, Minnesota
• 1976 the first Polaris liquid-cooled engine was installed in the TX-L340, and shortly afterwards the first snowmobile with independent suspension was built
• 1980 W. Hall Wendell, Jr., declared president of Polaris, leads the management group that acquired Polaris from Textron in 1981.
• 1984 ATVs and ATVs appear in the line. The company is becoming a world leader in the production of motor vehicles.
• 1995 Polaris sales reach $ 1 billion
• 1997 Victory Motorcycle Debut. Pilot El Anser Jr. rode his first motorcycle into the Planet Hollywood restaurant in Mall of America. Polaris expands its off-road range with Polaris RANGER buggy
• 2007 Polaris introduces the RANGER RZR, the first towable and fastest speeding buggy
• 2008 Current CEO Scott W. Vine joins Polaris team
• 2011 Annual sales for the first time exceed 2 billion. Polaris acquires the legendary Indian Motorcycle and restarts Chieftain in Sturges in 2013. Polaris also acquires GEM, an electric vehicle manufacturer.
• 2014 September 29th marks the grand opening of the Polish factory in Opole, the first production company located outside of North America. Annual sales exceeded $ 3.8 billion.
• 2015 Polaris buys the Brammo electric motorcycle line, the popular Brammo Empulse model, produced under the new name Victory Empulse TT
• 2017 Victory Motorcycle is discontinued
• 2018 Indian Motorcycle Division achieved higher sales and profit margins than Harley-Davidson (experiencing market contraction), thereby confirming that it was making the right decisions and moving in the right direction.
