The wheel is now free to be removed, but it is
recommended that the bearings should be protected
from dirt ingress, particularly if the tyre is to
be changed.

Collect the left side bearing dust cover.

Refitting

Remove any rust formed on the wheel axle and
grease lightly.
|
|

Offer the wheel to the forks and support the
wheel in position with the torque stop engaged with
the slot in the right fork slider.

Ensure that the dust cover is in position at the
left side of the front hub and push the axle home.
|

Fit and tighten the axle nut.
|

Connect and adjustthe brake cable.
|

Take the motorcycle off the stand, apply the
front brake and depress the front forks two or
three times so that the fork legs align themselves
correctly on the axle.

Lock up the pinch bolt at the bottom of the left
fork slider.
|
|
|
|
Note: On early models, the brake backplate
centre hole is oversize. It is thus important on
these models to centralise the brake by spinning
the wheel and applying the brake fully, holding the
brake on whilst tightening the right-hand axle nut.
